US Senate: Colorado Primary - Andrew Romanoff's Platform
http://www.andrewromanoff.com/pages/issues

And a recent message:

Dear Hawkeye-X,

Our opponent has spent nearly five million dollars -- most of it from out-of-state donors and special-interest groups -- promising to change the way Washington works. Unfortunately, not everyone in the campaign seems to have gotten the memo.

Yesterday, Sen. Bennet's campaign manager sent out a fundraising plea calling Andrew Romanoff deceptive, irresponsible and disingenuous. And those were just the nicest words in an appeal to end "negative campaigning"!

Here's the catch: In a 500-word character assassination, there's not a shred of evidence -- not a single instance of the "half-truths" or "character assaults" the Bennet campaign complains about. We have seen a steady stream of personal attacks in this race -- from our opponent's spokesmen and surrogates. (Take yesterday's email, please.)

Our campaign has not been afraid to point out the policy differences between the candidates. That's a matter of public record -- and, frankly, it's information most voters want. On health care, financial reform, energy and the environment, Andrew has laid out a progressive platform -- backed by the strongest record of legislative leadership in America.

As for the "negative campaign literature" our campaign is accused of distributing? The opposition doesn't provide any examples at all - because there aren't any.

These tactics are nothing new. It's an old political game: If you're embarrassed by the votes you cast or the money you take, you attack the messenger
and attempt to distract the audience.

Fortunately, the people of Colorado are not so easily fooled. Voters have been flooding our offices, our website, our events, supporting our grassroots, people-powered campaign.

In dozens of counties across the state, ballots go out today. To learn where and when you can vote, log on to www.andrewromanoff.com/vote.
It's time to send the special interests packing -- and to stand up for the candidate who's always stood with us.

Sincerely,
Berrick Abramson
Deputy Campaign Manager
Romanoff for Colorado

1. Do you know ANY Coloradoans who support Bennet?
I don't. It amazes me that polls still show Romanoff behind.

2. I remember Romanoff as House speaker, blocking every single pro labor legislation.
... which is why I'm for Bennet.

3. And exactly how would Bennet be any different?
He votes when it's politically convenient. And doesn't explain his vote.

Perhaps there is a reason why Romanoff kept blocking the pro-labor legislation.

Got proof of this?

5. I have talked to both personally.
Recently, I talked to Bennet, who had been taking a wait and see attitude on voting for things, but has come forth with a strong pro-labor platform.

My experience with Romanoff if that he's personalble and a good guy, but as speaker of the Colorado House, he has blocked everything we have tried to get done in the labor movement. I've been involved in this since 2005 (CWA/DALF/AFL).

The proof is in the Legislative record. Examples, unionization of state house janitors, Taxi drivers blocked, regulations on worker's comp detective agency spying.

I see Romanoff on organized labor like Obama has been for gay people. A lot of talk, and a back stabber in action.

6. this is Michael Bennet

(and Udall)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-sirota/c-span-as-red-pill-camera_b_651594.html?ir=Denver

"As the Denver Post reports, C-Span caught on camera Colorado Democratic senators Michael Bennet and Mark Udall appearing to switch their votes on a key measure back in May to crack down on credit card profiteering. Specifically, during a vote on an amendment capping credit card interest rates at 15 percent, both senators at first voted "no" on the idea when the outcome was uncertain, but then, when they were confident the measure would go down by a comfortable margin, both senators changed their vote to "yes."*

While getting caught on camera is certainly clumsy, Bennet's calculation makes a certain kind of (grotesque) sense - he is among the top recipients of financial industry cash in the Senate, but also running in a contested Democratic primary at a time when core Democratic voters in particular despise Wall Street. He, out of any senator, has a particular interest in trying to simultaneously look like a courageous populist to voters and a reliable corporatist to his big campaign donors."

speaking of back stabbers - Bennet is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wall Street. Bennet may talk about his "strong pro-labor platform", but it's no more real than his "yes" vote on credit card profiteering.

8. half a cup, etc...

I'm not under the illusion (as some are) that Romanoff is a liberal, but I don't care for the way Bennet obtained office, and I find the remarkable amounts of money he has raised, considering his short tenure in the Senate, highly questionable.

9. Mine has not endorsed anybody yet.
And Romanoff is against card check in EFCA, which is a deal breaker with most of us. UFW & Teamsters aside, this is probably a reason why my union (CWA) hasn't endorsed either.

I go to DC next week to talk to Bennet about labor issues, as well as all the others, so hopefully I can a better perspective.

Thanks for the info. :hi:

4. Romanoff will win the primary
Bennet's campaign has been an absolute trainwreck. One gaff after another.

When Bennet walks into a room, who looks for the bog money donors, ignoring most of the people in the room, then plants himself in one spot, expecting potential voters to come to him. Andrew, meanwhile, can barely get through the front door due to the mob scenes which greet him at every function.

Bennet is behind both of the Republican challengers in the polls while Andrew is polling FAR better and is actually leading Jane Norton right now.

Romanoff is the only logical choice for Colorado as he is the only truly electable candidate.
