Forget what Timothy Geithner thinks. We want Elizabeth Warren to police Wall Street.

From the Huffington Post

snip>

Huffington Post published an explosive story Thursday night reporting that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is trying to block President Obama from appointing one of the best consumer watchdogs in the nation to lead the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau created by Congress to rein in Wall Street.

As chair of the bailout oversight panel, Elizabeth Warren held Wall Street executives' feet to the fire and proved time and time again that she was not afraid to speak out.

Geithner is a Wall Street insider with long and deep ties to the financial industry. It's outrageous that he would try to sabotage the nomination of Warren, a respected Harvard professor who came up with the idea of establishing a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in the first place. It's clear from his handling of the financial crisis that Geithner is more concerned with protecting his friends on Wall Street than standing up for consumers.

1. Two things MUST happen with the CFPB for it to have any validity at all
1) Appoint Elizabeth Warren to lead it.

2) Make the CFPB a TRULY independent agency that has no connection whatsoever to the "Federal" Reserve, or Geithner's corrupted Treasury department.

Without #1 It's 100% useless. Without #2, anything Warren recommends probably won't happen, as those criminals would veto it.

7. These parameters of yours are just
ridiculous.

The Obama Administration fought for the consumer protections and will insure that a capable person is appointed.

Stop blaming Geithner for shit. Obama would not have him in this position if the crap the firebaggers/teabaggers were saying is true.

10. Depending on the "Federal" Reserve to regulate the criminal financial industry
is like depending on the Catholic church to regulate pedophiles.

Or depending on BP to protect the environment.

You cannot be part of the solution if you are part of the problem.

Timmy the elf and his "former" employers ARE the problem.

5. Maybe, you should be working on the Senate.
What makes anyone think that Obama and Geithner would not pick Warren as long as getting her confirmed in the position was assured?

Question 2: What proof do you have?

15. One thing we don't need
is an individual with the resume template that is currently presented by most of the existing Obama Treasury Dept officials, Fed Reserve, SEC, and others in the financial wing and the czars.

Too much commonality in background and interests = corruption and malfeasance.

The government and citizens need outsiders, not insiders from Goldman and Wall Street.

14. We all do.
However Thom Hartmann gave out his :tinfoilhat: theory this morning and I'm inclined to agree. Obama appointed him because he needed to know where all the dead bodies are buried. He still doesn't know everything and Geithner still holds the Ace. Elizabeth, the honest bureaucrat we would love, would get him to fold his game. Also, it might put her into a tar pit she could be buried in. I'm sort of wondering about this.
