Palin compares self to Shakespeare, invents new word, "refudiate"

No http://palingates.blogspot.com/2010/07/how-much-stupid-can-governor-dumbass.html#disqus_thread">Lie

When the error is pointed out to her, rather than humbly apologize, Palin claims to have invented a new word. She is definitely Republican presidential material. No wonder the neocons pushed so hard for her in '08.

3. Shakespeare invented words? Who would have thunk.
I find people like Bush and Palin invent words because they don't have the working vocabulary of an eleven year old. Yes, there are times to invent words but you had better have some good literary credentials behind you when you do. For instance, Thom Hartmann, who has written and published many books, coined the word banksters because it is a populist way of saying our present day banking system is criminal and they are performing like loan shark gangsters.

What an arrogantly stupid woman.

10. In this case it is a neologism as
psychiatrists and neurologists use the term.

neologism- In psychiatry, a new word or condensed combination of several words coined by a person to express a highly complex idea not readily understood by others; seen in schizophrenia and organic mental disorders.

If that's what you mean, we agree.

53. Pardon me. My question was not clear.
Do you think Palin believed refudiate was a word when she first posted it? She has used it aloud many times, but escaped criticism probably because she'd claim she intended repudiate. She lies, as you should know.

She next tried to use "refute" properly, gave up on that, then pretended she intended it in the first place.

Oh, and you are absolutely wrong that it pisses "us" off. "We're" enjoying every second of her humiliation, while feeling no anger whatsoever.

:eyes:

There's an OP here that has "refutiate", but t and d aren't next to each other.

Also, if she was using her phone, it might have autocompleted "refuse" or "refute", and she just kept typing from what it did.

There are probably more misspellings on Twitter daily than there are atoms in the universe. I find this whole broohaha kind of ridiculous.

74. Actually, Obama used it. He was making a satirical point at one of those WH press
dinners (I think; haven't consulted the google yet) early in his presidency. I also "think" it was in reference to the tea baggers but again, not sure.

The difference of course is that Obama knew he was being satirical and people know that he is well informed and well educated. Palin is just trying to discredit Obama. What else is new?

61. ROFL, sure... some authors do coin new words.
Issac Asimov coined "Robotics" for example. (my favorite author)
http://www.robotics.utexas.edu/rrg/learn_more/history/#useRobotics

It was a new word for a new concept.

Creating a contraction of two different words that you don't fully understand doesn't count as creating a new word.

Uneducated people create new words all the time too, that doesn't make them right.

So, is this her way of saying, "I meant to do that!"

66. THERE SHE GOES AGAIN...
When I saw Sarah was comparing herself to Shakespeare I instantly thought of this...

“Life is a tale told by an idiot -- full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
~ Shakespeare

Sarah, when will you learn, just because you say it doesn't make it so.

77. She is undoubtedly refering to Eugene Shakespeare, who lives in a rural area
near Wassilla, AK - he likes to make stuff up all the time...

Of course, he is drunk a lot...

the Iraq War was his biggest Shakespeare.

Sarah herself was McCain's biggest Shakespeare.

79. invents new word??? She just can't spell and doesn't use spell checker.
Like George she has know understanding of the English language and just goes on not caring. New words are being created all the time, mostly in the sciences, but misunderestimate was not one of them.
