When Righties Tell You The Stimulus Act Was A Failure, Now You Can Shoot Them Down
The non-partisan CBO says the Recovery Act increased the number of people employed by 2.8 million.

Oh, you have no idea how much I enjoyed pulling out this link to my right-wing friend who proudly declared that, and I quote, "Obama was given $1 trillion and lost 4 million jobs."

I love the CBO. It has helped me shoot down two different right-wing friends and their corporate-approved talking points in the last two days. And they have no response, because everyone pretty much agrees that the CBO is a non-partisan, totally trustworthy body.

5. Increased the number of full-time-equivalent jobs by 1.8 million to 4.1 million...
compared with what those amounts would have been otherwise.

This is according to page 2 of the CBO report

6. But how many of them...
are still working? Locally we had a stimulus road project that took about three days to complete. It's almost a year later and the signs are still up even though the job ended months ago.

7. Without the stimulus...
no one would have been paid even to post the signs.

8. There are a few reasons the signs are still up. In construction, the signs come down
when the project has been accepted by the owner. This can take several months depending on the project. There could be pay disputes, pending change orders or a host of other reasons.

I could get into more detail, but I hope you get the idea. Oh yeah, someone will get paid to take the signs down one day.

Welcome to DU. :toast:
