who has had new carpet installed? QUESTION???

when getting new carpet, are you suppose to wait a day before putting heavy furniture on it?

discussion between hubby and i. i wouldn't know how to google that; so, i am anxiously waiting for opinions from duers

1. Why? Is it glued down?
Hubby used to work as a carpet installer. Never heard of waiting.

3. perfect. thanks. we have had carpet twice in our marriage and i dont recall
waiting. went right on

vacuumed it all, to get the little piece and work out some of the smell. but i recall furniture went right back on.

6. lol. though, if i had to, i would. and have had plenty of times grabbing the other end. BUT
i have two boys 12 and 15. things have changed around this here house. lol.

13. By the time you get an answer to your question
A day will have gone by and the discussion will be moot.

FWIW we carpeted our master bedroom 5 or 6 years ago and put a ginormous sleigh bed on it the same day. The bed is so heavy it can't be moved so if it did any permanent damage to the carpet, TS. We'll never know.
