Fourteen women, three men and a Seeing Eye dog took a peek at my junk the other day…
Got your Attention? Good. It seems like forever and then some that I have sat down in front of my trusty laptop to write about my delicate condition.

And given that the last post was really a repost of an experience I already wrote about two months ago for Democratic Underground, it has been more than eight days since I have posted here on the blog.

I feel as if I should say Forgive me father for I have sinned….

But it all really meshes. You see this is the year of my 35th High School reunion. I have been to all of my reunions. Each time we gather to meet and refresh our relationships as friends, lovers or just plain old classmates, the artificial and ephemeral boundaries that were erected around us fall further away and matter less the older we get.

1. It continues to be a riveting story!
I remember the days when patients had to lie flat on their backs for several hours with a sandbag over the puncture in their groin...It was plain awful, not to mention uncomfortable.

The story really does mesh...

Keep on keepin' on!

2. What I remember most from those days was the
drawing of arterial blood in order to get an O2 count to see if you were getting better from pneumonia.

3. Friends are Friends, my Friend.
Routine medical procedures are scary. A heart catherization sounds very scary. Even more a transplant.

What makes them bearable: The presence of care. At least as much as the surgery or medicine, I believe it's the nurses who speed healing. It's also the presence of those who know and care for us. Your Brenda sounds tops.

My wonderful wife is still close to chums from grade school. In fact, she has several different group of friends she stays in contact with. Her wine sipping faves are her high school pals -- some of who can stand me.

It's all absolutely amazing for me -- I went to 11 different schools in my primary years, about the same number for college. I love seeing a pal most anytime. For me, it's a matter of them never actually having left my heart of hearts.

In a way, that's makes all who care the same. Finding and reuniting with friends to share this experience makes this world bearable and even more interesting. If more did care, the future would be wonderful.

6. I hear you....
My beautiful niece wanted to be a nurse and saved her summer job money since she was 15 to make sure she had enough to get through nursing school. She graduated from Strongsville High School in June 2008...turned 18 on July 4...and on July 20 she was killed along with her boyfriend by a dumbass going 99mph down a too-narrow road.

Her savings became the start up of a scholarship foundation that is now putting other young graduates through nursing school.

Nurses make all the difference in the world.

12. thank you....there is, but, at this time there is enough there to be perpetual.
In fact, they'll be holding their last fundraising event in Sept, so it will be easier for her parents to move on knowing that Sam's good heart will live on in the accomplishments of these future nurses.
