A Teabag Scorned Is Not Pretty
by digby

Reader JoeWo wrote in to alert me that Scott Brown's Facebook friends are in full projectile pea soup, head spinning revolt over his vote on Financial Reform.

Here's a typical response:

Mr Scott Brown - I want my 50.00 back that I sent you. You lied to us, you are a liar.
Please send me my money back ASAP.
SCOTT BROWN LET LUS DOWN. hE IS A FANATICAL LIB. I COULD REALLY CRY. THIS IS A SAD DAY INDEED FOR THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY. YOU ARE A TRAITOR.

And another:

DID YOU EVEN BOTHER TO READ THE BILL?

We have a runaway government, and thanks for giving away another chunk of our freedom. Bit by bit -- thanks again, Mr. Brown!! A massive increase in government control over private business, and does NOTHING with Freddie and Fannie - one of the biggest reasons for our economic downf...all.

Great job, Mr. Brown. Way to redistribute wealth. Which side are you on anyway?!? Oh yeah, and when are you up for re-election?

SHAME ON YOU, BROWN. YOU ARE A DISGRACE. Were you fooled by the name "Reform"?

And:

Your seat was going to be the people's seat. But we let you know we didn't want this bill, and you voted for it anyway. You're a fraud. You're a jerk. I'm so mad I could spit! What a fool I was to give you so many hours of effort last winter! I can't wait to vote you out!

Hundreds of them. And those are among the more coherent.

And that goes without saying, that it is very, very hilarious. K&R.

3. So the deal is, that anytime the government moves to regulate anything,
it is framed as massive increase in government control.

20. Maybe someone should ask them why it's the government's role...
...to "interfere" with the market by establishing standards of weights and measures. I mean, how can government interference be more pervasive than that?

And if they just say "it's in the Constitution", ask them why it's there.
Not to mention, next time they complain about the Post Office, pointing out that that's established in the constitution too.

4. I Guess Snotty's 15 Minutes Are Up...
Except for the unhinged teabaggers like Bachmann or King, seems like the shelf-life of a rushpublican is short these days...shorter than even impatient Democrats. Wasn't too long ago Snotty was the savior of the GOOP and a teabagger hero...then he voted with the Democrats and now you don't hear his name at all. He's become virtually invisible.

While I dread the thought, if teabaggers were to win some seat this fall, we could be in for some amusing times as those who go to Washington and try to pull stunts will have to compete with other unhinged...or if they want to be effective, they'll piss off the baggers as they'll have to vote against some right wing holy grail.

:hi:

7. That page is hilarious right now.
The passing of today's financial reform bill is a crushing blow to American capitalism; far beyond what any of us can fully comprehend. Truly a sad day for this great nation. Scott Brown, you are a retched fraud and traitor. Shameful.

Hyperbolic much?

I'LL BET I KNOW WHAT BARNEY GAVE YA!!!!

Might as well throw in some homophobia, right?

9. Fannie and Freddie have nothing to do with the financial collapse.
Fanny and Freddie were used to rescue the subprime market in 2007 when private investors were about to let it all collapse.

And remind me again-- who was pResident in 2007?

17. Ding Ding Ding we have a winner
Tea baggers and cons hate any program that helps the poor and lower middle class with anything because black folks who are to lazy to work get government hand outs, Reagans welfare queen mentality still alive and well today. Of course these same people have moved on after welfare was destroyed by Reagan nonsense so the tea bagging crowd has moved on to include the disabled. Why didn't you hear? A black guy went down to the SSI office claimed he had a mental disability and walked out with a $20,000 check!!!!!!!!!!11111 it was hugh. Nit wits.

19. They've been told the housing crash is because of bad loans to poor people.
And that the loans were required because of Barney Frank . . . so there's even a gay twist in the whole thing. It's a teabaggers Trifecta.

10. Maybe they are figuring out that they've been duped ...
The GOP invented the Tea Party to get the insane right wing to vote for run of the mill GOP candidates.

And the idiots fell for it.

Its hilarious.

11. Some Teabagger will eventually kill Scott Brown. Those people are crazy and violent.
Edited on Sat Jul-17-10 08:18 AM by Ian David
Unfortunately, they will try and paint the guy as a Liberal when it happens, and deny he was a "real" Teabagger.

to "Protecters of Big Business". Maybe instead of tea bags we should put in quotes those words.

15. Teabaggers angry about getting teabagged by Brown?
They should expect it, after all, if they don't care about anyone but themselves, why should they be surprised and angry that their representatives also don't care about what they want, or do not want, as well?
