A belated thanks from Alabama
Edited on Sat Jul-17-10 06:43 AM by Syrinx
It was outside ridicule that defeated Tim James.

And for that, I thank all you outside agitators!

His father was a horrible governor. In some ways, worse than George Wallace.

Thanks America, for helping to defeat that guy!

1. The fact that Fob reproduced is scary enough
But his spawn even getting CLOSE to the
Governor's Mansion....:scared:

BTW, Wallace wasn't all bad: his program of
community colleges and trade schools was downright
socialist by current rethug standards.

:hi: from Pennsylvania!

4. I taught at AceyJacey
(Alexander City Junior College) when it first opened.

The two top people at the college were Wallace supporters and racists. They asked a teacher to give one of the two black students a D in her class so that the student wouldn't be eligible to play basketball. They also put the other black student in remedial English even though he had scored above the cut-off level. I made that discovery purely by accident and a red-faced Dean moved the student into a regular English class where he made a C.

I remember well George Wallace blaming his loss for the governership to John Patterson to the fact that Patterson "out-segged" him. I don't think that Wallace himself was racist until after that election. But then he really went over to the dark side until after he was shot in Maryland. Wallace was even better at bringing out the hate and fear of a crowd than Sara Palin.

However, the community college system Wallace set up was definitely a good thing. It enabled the children of poor farmers and factory workers to be the first in their family to attend college. I think that was Wallace's intention.
