Crist fundraising way up since becoming an Independent
from TPM...

Second quarter fundraising results suggest that dropping out of the Republican primary for Senate in Florida was a good move for Charlie Crist. According to the AP, Crist raised $1.8 million in the second quarter, an increase of $700,000 from the first quarter of the year -- which Crist spent struggling under the surging GOP support for Marco Rubio. Crist has $8.2 million cash on hand, a testament to his past fundraising prowess as a Republican.

I suspect there are many FL Democrats donating to Crist.

2. It baffles me why they would vote against their interests for an Independent Republican.
Crist says he could support a Democrat for Senate majority leader
But the centrist governor said he might end up caucusing with neither party, unlike the Senate's two current independents, Sens. Joe Lieberman (Conn.) and Bernie Sanders (Vt.), both of whom caucus with Democrats.

"I might not vote for either one," Crist said of which party's member he might support as majority leader. "I'm going to vote for who I think is going to be best for the people of Florida. If is happens to be a Democrat, so be it. If it happens to be a Republican, so be it."

Crist framed his noncommittal response as being directed toward best representing Florida.
Maybe they are seeing what they want to see. Maybe they are swayed to vote and donate money agaisnt their own interests. Or maybe winning is more important than anything else.

3. Clearly, Crist benefits politically by not declaring whom he will caucus with..
but I would bet you a truck load of FL oranges he caucuses with the Dems. He has been been essentially excommunicated from the Republican party.

4. Who will call him the prodigal son and invite him back in for the power...
If Floridians elect him we will spend the next 6 years complaining that he isn't as libral as that reliable and progressive former Democrat know as Lieberman.

6. Then again, they can vote for a real Democrat...
I know that is radical.
But this is Democratic Underground.
We are allowed to be a little radical.

8. It is better to fight Rubio with a Democrat and lose than elect a snake like Crist.
People who vote for Crist should never complain about anything that conservative poser does. They want him, they should embrace and love him for what he does.

10. Well, I've watched his career from afar, and he sure looks like a snake...
but I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised.

I just don't expect to be. I have found that snakes and republicans rarely change their nature.

I will continue to watch this campaign with interest.

11. Crist has a 60% approval in Florida.. Many FL Dems love him.
I dont think a "snake" could pull in those kinds of numbers.

12. And what is it that makes you dislike the Democratic candidate
and speak so highly of a man who opposes him, who was a Republican last season? Claims that you can predict the future are not real answers. He can't win is not an actual fact, but a matter of speculation. Pure speculation.

13. I never said I disliked Meek or Greene.. but either one appears to be a loser.
Im just looking at this race practically and politically.. Crist is our best shot to win it, he will probably caucus with the Dems and hes more "liberal" than many current Dem senators.

14. Who asked about Greene? Odd tactic, that.
"our best chance" if you are including me, means a Democrat. I do not vote for Republicans, nor promote them. Crist is not a Democrat.
So you admit that your entire opposition to the Democratic candidate is a matter of conjecture and speculation, you do not dislike him, you just think he's a loser. What do you say about those you really dislike?
Your post says Crist is liberal, the Democrat is a loser, you equate Meeks to Greene, unrelated race in another State. So I will equate Crist to Lieberman. Who was at least an actual Democrat at one time.

15. Wow, you dont know Florida politics at all.. Jeff Greene is challenging Meek for the Dem nomination.
I suggest studying up a bit before posting on a topic you know little to nothing about.
