OK..as a political opinion writer-a tough question re:Where does a good Dem
draw the line.Do you actively comment on actions by our party that you may disagree with,or just keep your figurative mouth shut-especially when you live in a RED area. They don't need any fire, but some actions do need comment.Just a question...

1. Qualified Criticism
The Democrat has done this (list Conservative action). Yet against the (Republican candidate) we seem to be left with a choice of dumb and dumber (or lousy and rotten).

The Democrat has done this (list bad stuff). He/She is not a total loss. Our representative has done (list positive stuff).

2. Drawing distinctions is critical. Any one who thought Obama was really going to take on our
entrenched system of corruption is probably experiencing a let down. I volunteered and voted for Obama because he represented a enough of a shift from republican/Bush policies to warrant it.
That said, policy is always open to debate. I don't make it personal. Besides, we knew going in what a hell of a mess Bush & co. created and that it would not be an easy task to clean it up.

3. I think it's OK to express mild disappointment with Democrats...
such as, "Well, I had hoped that by this time Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzalez, and Rice would be facing war crimes charges at the International Court of Justice in the Hague, but I guess some things just take a bit longer than one would like. At least the President hasn't pardoned them yet." Save your attacks for the Repukes. They provide plenty of targets, after all. :hi:

4. Constructive criticism is the key
combine that with positive comparisons of Dems vs Republicans and some Dem accomplishments and you can get your message across with out giving the right any ammo

5. You have to make a decision at some point if you are more interested in policy
or personality. It's that simple.

If you see Dems advocating or making bad policy or weakening good policy, why agree with or protect them just because they are Dems?

FDR said "make me do it". That's a piece of advice I take seriously. I think we have to try as hard as possible to force our politicians to do the right thing. If that means embarassing them into it, so be it.

I also want to say that Conservatives will NEVER pick up the arguments more lefty types have with President Obama, so it's just silly to say that you are arming the right with more ammunition. Do you really think Sarah Palin is going to say," And furthermore, taking single payer out of the game was a mistake"?
