This letter from Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne to his company’s employees in Italy, upon close reading, could as well be sent by President Obama to the American people. It may be a strange twist of history — but one with a powerful lesson: In the past as in the future, those societies will succeed that focus on creating internal cohesion, rather than tearing themselves apart from the inside.
