I'm not sure what to think. However, I'm not convinced UFO's exist and won't be until I see the hard evidence. But, you never know. My mind is open.

UFO shuts airport. Really.

EAST China's Hangzhou City shut down its Xiaoshan airport for one hour late Wednesday night after radar detected the hovering of ... something.

Airport officials called it an unidentified flying object.

The UFO showed up on the airport's radar at around 9pm. The airport authority immediately notified passengers to stop boarding and grounded all flights about to take off, Xinhua news agency reported yesterday.

The object forced many incoming flights to land in neighboring airports in cities of Ningbo and Wuxi. It also caused about four hours delay for flights taking off.

An airport worker said the UFO was only visible to radars at the airport and none of the passengers or workers on the runway could have seen it with the naked eye.

But just hours before the airport shut down, many residents in Hangzhou said they witnessed a glowing object hovering in the afternoon sky and moving weirdly.

The object, glowing in golden light, was moving slowly toward the ground dragging a comet-like tail, said a city bus driver surnamed Yu. It changed track after moving downwards for about six minutes.

Flights diverted, delayed as UFO detected hovering

An unidentified flying object (UFO) disrupted air traffic over Zhejiang's provincial capital Hangzhou late on Wednesday, the municipal government said on Thursday.

Xiaoshan Airport was closed after the UFO was detected at around 9 pm, and some flights were rerouted to airports in the cities of Ningbo and Wuxi , said an airport spokesman, who declined to be named.

The airport had resumed operations, and more details will be released after an investigation, he said.

A source with knowledge of the matter, however, told China Daily on Thursday that authorities had learned what the UFO was after an investigation.

But it was not the proper time to publicly disclose the information because there was a military connection, he said, adding that an official explanation is expected to be given on Friday.

Zhejiang UFO still a mystery

AVIATION experts were last night no nearer to identifying the unidentified flying object that disrupted air traffic over east China for an hour on Wednesday.

An investigation team, comprising police and aviation officials, were still trying to identify the UFO that was spotted over Zhejiang Province.

"No conclusion has yet been drawn," Wang Jian, head of air traffic control with the Zhejiang branch of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, said yesterday.

There was speculation the UFO might have been a private aircraft, based on the increasing number of privately-owned aircraft in the province. But an industry insider who declined to be named yesterday ruled that out.

Wang said the private plane was "just a guess."

Experts probe Hangzhou UFO sighting

EXPERTS from Beijing and Shanghai gathered in Hangzhou today to investigate the unidentified flying object that shut down Hangzhou's Xiaoshan airport last Wednesday.

They stepped in as all kinds of speculation swirled online and the official investigation team led by the airport company failed to yield any conclusion after a five-day probe, Xinmin Evening News reported today.

Xiaoshan airport officials found something strange on the airport's radar about 9pm on July 7. They thought it was a UFO and canceled all flights from take-off. People who saw it described it as a twinkling spotlight.

The six experts led by Beijing UFO Research Organization said they do not expect complex explanations.

"It must be something normal - most UFO cases turned out to be something normal," expert Zhang Yunhua said.

Zhang said he analyzed the pictures posted online by people who said they saw the Hangzhou UFO and most of them were just sunlight reflections on regular airplanes.

But he also said the pictures might not be related to the UFO that paralyzed Xiaoshan airport.

"The investigation would depend on how cooperative the airport authority is. For example, showing us the radar pictures could be a great help," he added.

This is the second recent UFO seen in China. Many residents in Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, claimed on June 30 that they saw a flying disc moving east with a white tail in the sky.

you can even see the sort of double exposure on the buildings, like the camera wasn't held completely still.

And, it doesn't really sound like the eye-witness reports to me either, unless you use a great deal of imagination. Which makes me think this photo was just put up with the story because it looks dramatic, and doesn't actually have anything to do with the event.

Disclaimer: I do not think any of these photos have anything to do with the actual UFO. As far as I'm concerned, the event itself remains unexplained (and for me, probably unexplainable since it happened on the other side of the planet and the Chinese government isn't likely to be forthcoming on the issue).

Twilight launches often exhibit thick exhaust trails or large exhaust plumes that can be photographed over a wide area. To image twilight launches, the location is not critical, but photo sites where launch occurs at sunset +30 minutes or sunrise -30 minutes are optimum.

A telephoto snapshot showing the sunlit first stage main engine exhaust plume from a Delta II morning twilight launch from Vandenberg AFB. The webmaster wanted to record the plume as it looked to the naked eye. This required the use of a high-speed (light sensitive) film to allow for an exposure short enough to prevent image smear from the rocket's motion.

I have yet to see a picture of what I remembered, until now. It remains the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed in my life. Trust me, it looked nothing like a meteor.

Lots of people saw the same object I saw in Kansas City, but nobody got a picture. 1988 was the olden days, no cellphone cams.



See the white lights on top? They moved as a unit along with the "craft", which I couldn't see due to darkness. THey reminded me of "portholes" in a ship.

It's hard to to find images of UFOs that are real. However, when images do come from credible sources there is silence. There are some very compelling images going all the way back to the 1950s.

Night photography and "shooting from the hip" spontaneous image capturing has always been a challenge, even to seasoned pros.

If they were far enough out, it should be fairly easy for radar to see them, but for people on the ground not to be able to pick them out at 9PM.

The radar sighting and the glowing object are not necessarily related, and thus may not be caused by the same phenomenon.

ANOTHER unidentified flying object has been seen hovering over a park in southwestern China's Chongqing Municipality after the investigation into a UFO that shut Hangzhou's Xiaoshan Airport on July 7 failed to reach a conclusion.

All the alleged witnesses said they saw the same thing - four lantern-like objects forming a diamond shape that hovered over the city's Shaping Park for over an hour, Xinhua news agency reported today.

Pictures of the UFO were posted online. The four objects were moving as if they were one, and three had white lights but one was red, report said.

No official explanation has been given.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the UFO that shut down Hangzhou's Xiaoshan airport on July 7 has not yielded any result.

Six grassroots UFO experts came home empty-handed last night after they gathered in Hangzhou to investigate the sighting.

They wanted to obtain radar images from Hangzhou Airport, but officials refused, saying the radar caught nothing when the airport was shut down.
