Interesting comment from a republican friend advocating campaign finance reform...
My friend comments me to about what the root evil is in the government is the money in politics. Politicians due to the system, all politicians are beholden to their donors and primarily to the large donors. He then says that there should be no donations allowed and all campaigns should be based on public money. Have a $5 dollar or some sort of amount that all people pay into the fund to support the elections.

This came from a diehard republican who want elections to be publicly financed. Five minutes before he had been commenting about the socialism in Canada and how he doesn't want that to happen here. Yeah, it really bends the mind listening to these folks.

1. I've found that publicly financed elections are a big hit with conservatives,
Both liberals and conservatives dislike the notion of corporate money influencing our elections. Perhaps that is an area where both sides can join hands and actually accomplish something together:shrug:

if publicly funded elections were ever implemented.

3. I don't want my tax money going to fund Michelle Bachman's campaign
And I am fairly certain that her fans don't want their tax money funding Barney Frank's campaigns.
