For those against speaking a motorists' language
before arresting him/her for DUI, just pause and imagine you are visiting a foreign country and they lock you up without speaking one word of English to you. I agree with the New Jersey court.

3. I really don't believe men have the right to ride on the back of crocodiles
And damn anyone for disagreeing with me regarding this cruel act. May your leg be bitten too

5. Well, certainly women should have the same right as men to
ride on crocodiles. GLBT folks, too, for pete's sake, after all these years. But, I draw the line at children riding crocodiles.

4. Hmm...who is against that?
Is it an identifiable group here on DU? If not, perhaps a little background would be helpful.

7. One of the facts of travel
Edited on Tue Jul-13-10 01:38 PM by sui generis
is that almost every other country but yours speaks a different language. YOU have a responsibility to understand enough of the language to drive responsibly, and not expect to be coddled in english if you find yourself pulled over for driving down the wrong side of the road in England. So why is it Americans should be required to? If you're driving you have a responsibility in EVERY country to drive safely, and not knowing the local language probably means you shouldn't be driving, even sober. Do YOU speak Macedonian? What is your responsibility to a Slovak-only-speaking driver in America if you see them driving erratically?

I'm sorry, no pity here.

8. Tu as raison.
De veras.

You are correct. When I travel, I always learn enough of the local language to deal with very simple conversations and learn the road signs in that place, if I plan to drive. It's all on the web...even the language instruction.
