"Obama: Lew is 'Hall of Fame' budget director"
Edited on Tue Jul-13-10 12:18 PM by Stinky The Clown
President Obama said today he is bringing in an all-star numbers cruncher to try and tame record-setting budget deficits.

Jack Lew produced a surplus while working as budget director for President Clinton, and will now try his hand at reducing a federal debt currently tagged at $13.1 trillion, Obama said in nominating Lew to the same post in his administration.

"If there was a Hall of Fame for budget directors, then Jack Lew surely would have earned a place," Obama said in introducing Lew at the White House.

He will have to earn it again: The current budget deficit is put at $1.5 trillion; the accumulated federal debt is $13.1 trillion.

Obama, who has been taking heat from Republicans over federal spending, noted that the $236 billion budget surplus that Lew produced turned into a $1.3 trillion deficit by the time President George W. Bush left office in early 2009. "Jack's challenge over the next few years is to use his extraordinary skill and experience to cut down that deficit and put our nation back on a fiscally responsible path," Obama said.

The Senate must confirm Lew.

3. Wrong job. Put him in charge of the DOD and have him cut that budget. 50% would be a good start.

6. I didnt vote for Hillary because I didnt want a return to Clinton's DLC economics
Obama now has more Clinton DLC economics people working for him than Hillary would have had in her admin.

I kinda feel betrayed, thats my thought.
