I remember a while back when everyone was saying
that democrats would become the permanent minority party because republicans were outbreeding them. But I for one don't see a difference. If you were to take the Rs and Ds in congress and find the average number of children they had, I don't think it would be very different. There are some democrats who have a lot of kids. Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Alan Grayson all have five children. Its kind of like military experience. The pubbies like to talk about how dems are weak on national defense but if you look at military experience between the Rs and the Ds in congress it is pretty even.

Edit: Forgot that I meant to add: "I think I'll go watch Idiocracy.

2. Doesn't matter
My parents were republicans. I have been a life-long democrat, as has my brother. So, it really doesn't matter how many kids you have, it's how smart they become!

3. It's the voters, not the politicians.
Blue states are losing representatives in the House and presidential electors because their population is not growing as fast as red states' populations.

5. You are conveniently ignoring the fact
that aside from normal reproduction Republicans also grow in number in direct proportion to the number of synagogue off cuts which are planted.

6. The obvious fallacy - NOT all them kids will grow up to be Right Wingers....
Edited on Tue Jul-13-10 12:27 PM by old mark
If they grew up in a strict RW household, I guarantee you at least some of them - the smart and worthwhile ones- will rebel against their upbringing and become liberals - at least!
And don't forget to allow 10% or so for those who are gay-I am sure most of them will become liberals, too.

So there is no reason to believe that those folks in that trailer court watching Fox all day will generate a huge number of teabaggers...their lifestyle just ain't that attractive, and not all of them will be born stupid.

and abandoning their service, like mr AWOL Bush.

Not surprised you are looking to get DUers to agree there is no difference between Rs and Ds military service.

8. here is the link I was talking about
http://articles.sfgate.com/2006-09-17/opinion/17313404_1_fertility-gay-unions-liberal

f you're a liberal, here's what you can do to make Karl Rove a very happy man: Get yourself a labradoodle. Or any other kind of dog, for that matter. Even a cat will do.
Just don't have children.
That way you'll maintain a fertility gap that already is invisibly working to guarantee the political right will outnumber the left by an ever-growing margin.
Over the past three decades, conservatives have been procreating more than liberals -- continuing to seed the future with their genes by filling bassinets coast to coast with tiny Future Republicans of America.
Take a randomly selected sample of 100 liberal adults and 100 conservative adults. According to an analysis of the 2004 General Social Survey -- a bible of data for social scientists -- the liberals would have had 147 kids, while the conservatives would have had 208. That's a fertility gap of 41 percent. Even adjusting for other variables like age and income, there is a gap of 19 percent.

11. Perhaps this source of yours was referring only to the birth rates of white people, Bob.
Meanwhile the nonwhite population of the country is growing a bit faster, through both births and immigration, so that by the midcentury mark, less than half the population nationwide will be white. This is not good news for Republicans, and it's a problem they've been aware of and trying to ignore for a long time. If you want to know why Republicans have been tending to ratchet up the heat against immigration, Latino vote be damned, it's not because they truly believe they can stop illegal immigration. They are merely counting on keeping their whitest of lily white base hot enough to keep voting Republican, regardless of the paltry amount of other good Republicans will ever actually do for them.
