The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday delayed its vote on Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan for a week at the request of the panel's ranking Republican.

Such a delay is permitted under committee rules. The panel had a similar delay last year when considering the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor.

The committee's chairman, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, said he hoped to hold the vote on Kagan on July 20.

1. I wonder why they didn't name Sessions as that repub?
The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider the nomination of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States on Tuesday, July 13. The meeting is open to the public, and will be webcast live online.

4. So What Else Is New...
They did the same tactic with Sotomayor...an empty gesture that makes them seem as though they're "fighting" the nomination. This whole process has become a sham...I'm just grateful it'll be over and wish Justice Kagan the best.

5. And that Republican is very rank indeed.
I guess he wanted another week of Sessions. ;-)
