Crap. Fiorina 47%, Boxer 45% (Survey USA)
The poll conducted 7/8 to 7/11 among likely voters. Let's pray Californians don't replace a reliable progressive with this loony.

9. Nate Silver ranks SUSA as 3rd best pollster in the USA
The poll is very bad news; but we shouldn't pretend it isn't news.

20. Best poll in the business, Field is.
Counting on the common sense of the average voter to save the day is not a good idea.

Remember H.L. Mencken: 'Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it -- good and hard.'

6. California is definitely growing more ignorant every single day.
California hasn't learned a thing from throwing out Davis and replacing him with a Republican. They thought it was bad under Davis and raised holy hell but it has gone straight down hill from there and not a peep out of all those that were so worried about their fiscal difficulties.

I have a great friend and just found out that she fell for the Davis crap and voted to oust him. She is very ashamed she fell for it. The "govern by proposition" has really driven CA to ruin:cry:

11. we're in for a long few months
if everyone gets up or down on every poll. At this point, a 30+% difference probably means something. 10% may be worth discussing. <5% is meaningless no matter who ran the poll (I guess it means there is a race instead of a blowout, but nothing to get up or down about.)

17. This poll is Just Wrong. Lets go through the details
It has Meg Whitman up 7 over Brown....BS

It has Obama with a higher unfavoribility rating than favoribility...BS

It has Fiorina getting 33% of the black vote....BS

I'm sure if I dig deeper and do some research I can find some more.

I'd like to see a real authoritative refutation of the poll, but it really doesn't make any difference.

The only "poll" that matters will be the one in November.

23. Sad: are pollsters going after visibility and controversy more so than
accuracy? They are businesses and we all know that talk shows say crazy things and create controversy just to get their names repeated around the news and pundit cycle. Maybe pollsters think no one is talking about them if their results are entirely expected and unexciting for someone and outrageous for someone else?

After all, Surveyusa results were posted here with a significant number of responses already and you can bet the Fox pundits are quoting them re California. So I think pollsters would notice that they get many more quotes, many more television appearance requested when the polls show something unexpected. Perhaps their next poll will go the other way and show dems in unexpectedly good shape. More television appearances.

It's the Tweety syndrome.

25. Most voters are uninformed.
These elections will come down to who can put up the most commercials and other media.

Thanks to SCOTUS the rich now own our election process. It's still democracy - one dollar = one vote.

replaced him with Ahnold. Some idiot behind me in line couldn't wait to vote for a movie star. Not only uninformed, but plain stupid.

28. Gilroy to Burlingame
is Carli hater counry. Our children's hospital is Lucille Packard, our college is Stanford (with Hewlett and Packard Buildings all over the campus), and the community is solid with HP retirees -- who hate and despise Carly. People carry grudges and people remember who threatened their pensions and local institutions.
