No White House words on Reid's criticism of Obama
(AP) – 2 hours ago

WASHINGTON — The White House declined Monday to rebut Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's recent criticism of President Barack Obama as insufficiently forceful in dealing with Republicans>

"On a few occasions I think he should have been more firm with those on the other side of the aisle," Reid said.

"He is a person who doesn't like confrontation. He is a peacemaker and sometimes I think you have to be a little more forceful, and sometimes I don't think he is enough with the Republicans."

Reid cited the health care debate, where he said the White House stood back and let the scrimmaging play out in the Senate. There were times, he said, "when I wanted the folks in the White House behind me."

4. Gee, he really tore him a new asshole, no? I think the President
should reply with "Harry uses his hands way too much when he talks." That'll fix him.

Harry, having climbed all the way up to the 3rd percentile in forceful dealings, has found someone still stuck in the 1st percentile.

16. he could have been a bit more firm in his criticism of Obama!
but it's nice to see someone near the top of the party at least acknowledge the sentiment of the Democratic base and reality (even if he would never dream of acting on it).

17. He's right ya know....
I mean really. Yeah Reid is looked at as a wimp, never any party-faithful's pick for the leader in the Senate, but he's right on this point. You don't have to be a quarterback to make calls from your easy chair. Even if you can't do it yourself, you still can make a good call now and again.

That said, I'm not a registered Democrat, though I do count myself as center-left. I support Obama, and so far have not been terribly surprised by his actions (or inactions)...frankly I think he's doing a better than average amount of what he promised on teh campaign trail. To me it seems like everyone is bitching primarily because he is as much a "unity" and "listen to both sides" type as he said he was.

24. Reid's criticism was exaggerated
He also called Obama a "strong leader," besides, Reid only said that on "a few occassions" as the AP notes, Obama was not strong enough. That means that a lot of ocassions he didn't have that problem.
