Bloomberg Weighs In On WTC Mosque Proposal, investigation un-American

Mayor Michael Bloomberg weighed in Monday on the debate over a proposal to build a mosque near the World Trade Center site.

Republican candidate for governor Rick Lazio has called for an investigation into the funding source of the group that wants to turn the former Burlington Coat Factory on Park Place and Broadway into a mosque.

Bloomberg blasted Lazio’s comment by saying an investigation would be un-American.

"It's so out of character for what this nation stands for and the way we conduct ourselves. I've said that the government should never, never be in the business of telling people how they should pray or where they can pray," said the mayor.

The Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, which lost 37 members on 9/11, also put out a scathing statement last week accusing Lazio of politicizing the mosque issue.

I find that information fascinating.

Now, if these people really do hate us for our freedoms, we should really give them something to hate us for and let these people building the mosque 2 blocks from the world trade center.

2. Does Bennie NuttyYahoo know that?
Since he apparently wants to turn them to dust (along with the rest of Tehran)

3. If he doesn't know that, then he is the most monumentally stupid world leader...
Like I said, I find that a fascinating bit of information.

4. Admittedly I had never heard that before either.
But one might think the Prime Minister of Israel would know something like that. It's hard to believe he would want to annihilate a country with a large Jewish population.

6. Both sides of that argument tend to be heavy in hyperbole...
I just found this an interesting point to bring up with the fight to stop Muslims from builidng a mosque 2 blocks from the World Trade Center site. We should let them.

5. Can ANY religious organization
from taking advantage of the deaths of all those people. Put up a monument, but leave it totally non religious. Remember, they called it the WORLD Trade Center and there were people of all faiths, and none, representing the globe.

To single out any one faith defeats the original purpose of the towers.

7. Can we stop calling it just a mosque? Most of it is going to be a Muslim community center.
