2. They've certainly kept the beaches free of independent recorders
Any unauthorized folks with cameras are summarily cleared from the area. It's almost as if BP doesn't want their efforts independently documented, which is a puzzlement, considering what a great job they say they're doing.

3. But they apparently aren't getting paid
so it's all overtime.

4. I was just there, and there were cleaning crews everywhere.
I drove from Long Beach to Gulf Breeze, Florida. There is heavy equipment every half mile or so, and people combing the beaches all over. I didn't even see anything much for them to pick up, aside from some small tar balls, although I hear the big stuff is washing up now.

So they may be out there 24/7. How much they are really accomplishing, I don't know. Seems to me they could have done a lot more at the start at the source of the spill and minimized the need for a lot of this, but they wanted to do it on the cheap and no one forced them to do otherwise. Now everyone's doing what they can, and it won't be enough, but what else can they do?

5. And their gusher is killing the Gulf 24/7.
And their band-aid means very little in the face of the mortal wound they have inflicted.

7. All it says to me is ...
... that they're blowing money on tv ads that they could be using for the cleanup.
