A web site that shows you all the ships at the BP Oil Disaster site in real time...
http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/#

This is a web site that shows all the vessels swarmed around the BP Oil Disaster site in real-time using AIS technology. After clicking on the link, navigate to the area of the spill (it uses Google Maps - the area itself is roughly at the 4 o'clock position and 50-60 miles off the Mississippi Delta) and zoom in to the 6th notch from the top, and you'll see this:

I thought it was fascinating!

2. That is not nearly enough to be a "swarm."
ATC at any commercial airport in America would say that's not even a holding pattern.

BP should be paying for hundreds of skimmer ships in the area, and hundreds more along the coast.

4. "Swarmed" as in hovering, not as in numerical superiority...

3. There seems to be only one tanker out there.
Shouldn't there be more?

7. I think it's fascinating to see the various craft around the site...
If you click on any of the items it will pop up with specific info about each vessel.

10. It has yet to get approval, or prove whether it's effective, but if it is...
