San Jose Mercury NewsIf it took a while to get used to seeing "Gov." before Arnold Schwarzenegger's name, imagine how weird this appellation would look: "Illinois Senator."
In FBI tapes emerging from a state whose envelope-passing politics make California's gridlock look downright cuddly, former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich can be heard musing about possibilities to fill the U.S. Senate seat once held by President Barack Obama.
And mentioned, if only briefly, was the governor of our own humble state, along with other stars like Oprah Winfrey who might "bolster the list" of candidates for the job.
Never mind that Schwarzenegger doesn't live in Illinois, even if his long, consonant-heavy name would have good company in a Chicago phone book. Indeed, a Blagojevich aide can be heard on the tape quickly shooting down the notion of seeking candidates from beyond the state's borders.
