Now, the often mentioned of late, Gordon Gecko from Wall Street. Well, that's another matter. Hell, I think Gecko WAS modeled upon Pickens. Except for being a lot classier.


Did you hear about Pickens stealing part of a man's driveway last year or so? It was Pickens' childhood home and he just came and took a part of the drive with his name on it. The city bent over backwards and declared it an easement and GAVE it to Pickens. The man is a world-class thief.

This is where the story of Boone Pickens parallels Daniel Plainview. Remember how the character promised to turn that lonely town into a modern paradise? Why, he even promised to build a school! Boone built a school in West Texas and as you know, he built one in Oklahoma. And as you also know, if you cross Boone or question his motives, he threatens to take his funding away.

For us, when we turn our back on Boone, he decided to wreak his revenge by attempting to literally buy the Ogallala Aquifer. His "wind energy" plan is nothing but a ruse to force our region to give up water rights so he can sell the stuff down state. When I say he is drinking our milkshake I am not exaggerating.

I refer to him as "Boone" because, a while back, he made a big stink about the "T". He told everyone that he preferred to be called "Boone". I think it's hilarious that all the teevee people still call him "T. Boone". In my area of Texas, we call him "Boone" but we say it sarcastically. :)
