Ah yesterday fake IPADs
today fake IPHONES...

Well this is what happens when you produce your goods at a place that don't respect intellectual property.

And this is not just apple, before anybody says it.

But hey... I guess no harm no foul, after all it is only Apple that hires essentially slaves... :sarcasm:

Oh and that thing you will see evaporate is the US economy.

1. None of this is surprising in a Post American world...
Apple seems to think that the most important item on their product is their corporate logo. They may still be right at the moment, but that will pass. If they don't move aggressively to protect their product, they will go the way of the Sylvania.

Oooops, they already have. Apple is a distributor not a manufacturer.

2. Like almost every other company in the United States
Sad, and the saddest part is that most people don't realize this.

Now I should start looking for other ahem knock offs... Oh wait, Microsoft comes to mind.

3. well they keep complaining therer are no jobs. all these people on unemployment.
it's because there ARE NO JOBS. they are sending them overseas. my husbands company just moved it's base of operations from dayton to near atlanta georgia. they laid off all the call center workers in dayton and sent those jobs to india. and it looks like a smart move. all those jobs sitting in my husbands cue that they refuse to move to someone else. it's already affecting job performance because bob can't move them over himself. and the other guy can't move it either. so one guy has like 15 calls in his cue and the other has 1. oh, and the company says they did this for the benefit of the CEs (which is just my hubby's title). Though they did this and no one at my husbands level hasn't actually seen any 'benefit'. but i bet the company has. but they are not thinking long term here. short term thinking is not good in a company like this. and it's not good for these companies in general. when no one can afford to buy their crap, then they aren't going to be making the money anymore.

4. It is this quarter's thinking
and a zero sum game thinking taught at the biddness schools.

They are moving those call center jobs to India under the excuse of pay, which accounts for less than 20% of it.

They are moving them because they are not paying taxes, they are not paying any externalities, the biggie.

But sooner or later our service economy will get to the point that the 150 dollar knockoff of the IPAD will be out of reach for most Muricans, or other consumers. Of course this will stop well before we reach that point... but it will get plenty bad before they realize that chasing this quarter's bottom line is not a good long term prospect.

Of course it would help if the tax rate went up to oh 80% for the top earners... they'd rather keep that money IN their companies instead of paying taxes... what is that thing I am citing? Well, history. Not a coincidence it was at 90% and the unions were the strongest, when we had our golden age in the 1950s.

6. and everyone was doing well. the rich weren't hurting for anything.
they still had most of the money. but the little people could earn a living too and maybe go on a vacation with their family once in awhile. or maybe afford that ipad. or the tv. we have forgotten what role unions paid in giving us even the opportunity to have an 8 hour day. or a five day week. or sick days. or vacation days. or anything. i guess we'll all have to learn together.

5. I don't know about this APhone but I looked at their APad and it seems
they are using Google's new Droid OS to run it. If it really works? I haven't a clue.

For almost as long as I can remember, there have been Asian knock-offs of electronic equipment.

10. amazing... they are making an error though
WHAT VERSION of Android? Yes it matters. Some software at the store will not run on this if the OS is early enough.

And I meant at oh Stapples... I am expecting to see them at actual brick and mortar stores.

Of course I came THIS CLOSE to getting one... the other day... COOL... and then I went... DO I REALLY NEED IT? No.

I have to remember we all have been well trained to consume, almost pavlovian.

Scary.

12. What I am hopping it will do is drop the prices of
things like oh the IPAD. As to netbooks, we are having the annual switcharoo, so you might be able to find last year's model fairly cheap. Hubby is using one of those right now. If not, Black Friday is when I got that one...

You can find a few for even as low as 150 if you really wake up early enough.
