1. Isn't there supposed to be a link there for letter campaign to stop deep-water drilling
Looked but I couldn't find it.

2. just got back.
we had about 30 people, only a couple of whom were under 50yo. i was hoping i would meet up with the end a long line and not have to walk an hour down the beach to get there but i was wrong! i'm still recuperating. glad i did it though. think this will get any air time?

it was a beautiful day at the beach and i hope it stays that way.

3. I was going to go, but ended up at work at the last minute.. AND I'm also
missing the Pride Parade. I need the money, so my life is beholden to the corporate masters rather than my valued idea of a great Sat off.

4. Why didn't we hear about this earlier?! I could have had dozens of people hit
the sand this morning.

But, alas, I've only just opened this thread and it is 2 hours to late to join hands for this event. :(

5. I couldn't justify driving 2 hours for it...if I was in biking distance
I would have done it.

6. I'm ten minutes from the beach... but I just remembered. My thirty-four mile per gallon car
bit the dust two days ago... Sigh. I never received the manuel or any info that these cars are different. Apparently, I was supposed to have had the timer belts replaced at 60,000 miles. I didn't know. And at 65,000 miles the belt broke (no warning whatsoever) and the mechanic tells me that I will probably need a new engine too. I think if the belts will go so quickly after 60,000, then the belts should be changed at 50,000.

As the car was at 47,000 miles when I bought it, I could have ridden in a taxi for everywhere I went and paid less.

I would have had to bum a ride this a.m. Ya live and learn.

7. hands across the sand in orlando fl -
i organized our event at lake eola in downtown orlando, fl.
we had 33 people show up. the meaning of hands across the sand is to say NO to offshore drilling and YES to clean energy. a petition to that effect was to be circulated at each event, event organizers received sufficient email and instruction to know this.
we were lucky in another sense today. 2 volunteers for a state rep were walking through the park asking people to update their voter registration status. it turns out that alan grayson is against offshore drilling and for clean energy. i do believe he picked up 33 votes today!

8. was there in New Orleans
about 200 people...
http://www.wdsu.com/news/24056584/detail.html
"People in the Crescent City joined in on the worldwide protest against offshore drilling on Saturday...In a show of solidarity, dozens of environmentalists gathered behind Audubon Zoo, joining tens of thousands around the world in what's called "Hands Across the Sand...If this isn't a wakeup call what's happening in the Gulf I don't know what could be a wakeup call for us," said Sierra Club member Amanda Moore"

it was primarily a push for the free screening of The Fuel Film here on Monday and march on Tuesday
