Customer Service is not dead...

So....It's 1:24 a.m here in Fort Worth.

I work the night shift.

I just got home, picked up the mail and opened my water bill.

The bill is for double the usual amount.

The bill for water consumption for the month is about what I expected it to be...half of the total due.

The other half is for "..."nothing out trp chg and nothing out tax"


So I call, at 1:24am on a Saturday morning....expecting a phone tree...press 1 etc....

"Naomi"...I think that was her name..., with a definite Texas accent answers the phone...on the second ring

I am amazed.

She is civil, answers my questions...agrees after looking at my account that something is amiss...and provides me with a number to call...after 8:00am on a Saturday morning.

"Naomi" makes everything alright...

Texas may suck, but Fort Worth rocks...

6. I tried to order over 100 DVDs from DeepDiscount last week in their sale...

... and made up for lost time for the last year not having bought a lot of decent documentaries, etc.

But the sale ended an hour earlier than it should have for a CST company along with a few other problems with their site (which might have reflected them having a leaner staff).

However, when I called in on Monday to their support staff, I had a CS person patiently help me place the order over the phone which took about a half hour... Yes, there still are companies that keep decent customer support staff in the U.S. here and who are doing a fine job that can make up for other shortcomings a business might have in these tight times.

7. Don't you love it

when things go right. You will remember this for some time.
Last year I reported my next door neighbor who was burning rubbish by my house, all day long and the smoke was engulfing my house. When I called the fire dept. to see if they could do anything, they sent someone over right away to tell him to knock it off.
I still think of that as something that worked out like it should.

10. I know a place...

That delivers food till 3am. It used to be just pizza, but now you can have spaghetti, Homemade Cannelloni (Baked Pasta),Lasagna, ravioli, Linguini Alfredo, big green salads, french fries,Mozzarella Sticks, Buffalo Wings,Jalapeno Poppers, garlic bread, cheese cake, Chocolate Cake, tiramisu, Soda, bottle water, and even beer (with an ID card).


I think that is totally awesome!
