If you're thinking that this is good because it will "clear the way for single-payer", I'm pretty sure it won't. The talking point will probably be that people don't want any health care reform at all and voted in the Republicans to get rid of it. This is pretty much what happened in 1994 and it took 16 years to get it passed after that.

And what do you think you can do about it?

If you post the specifics, then other people can help! You can post things like the contact information for Democratic campaigns looking for volunteers, or local groups of Democrats looking to help; if you are in Illinois, you can try the Illinois Dem Net link below, or outside of Illinois, your local Democratic Meetup (also below). Drinking Liberally is a good way to get in touch with activists in your area, and you can can always find out who your precinct captain is and let them know you're willing to help.

2. Doesn't the president get a chance of vetoing such a bill if it doesn't have a veto proof passing?

3. That's only when D.s have a majority.
Bush got whatever the fuck he wanted even during those times he had a minority in the Senate.

Of course in reality they would need 67 votes to override a veto.

4. 66, I think
60 is a filibuster, but I think it takes 66 to overrule a presidential veto. And 2/3 of the House.

I'm sure they want to repeal it, though. They want to repeal Social Security.
