Internet Sex domain gets official approval

Sex domain gets official approval

Official approval has been given for the creation of an internet domain dedicated to pornography.

The board of net overseer Icann gave initial approval for the creation of the .xxx domain at its conference in Brussels.

Icann's approval will kick off a fast-track process to get the porn-only domain set up.

1. ..and who said that Progress is dead in America?
Porn is the great equalizer...here forever, never to be suppressed, repressed, or vanquished.

Sort of like the Bush Family...

8. Eh. When I was young, sometimes I had to masturbate to the Sears bra ads in the Sunday Paper.
Fuck me if we haven't seen some progress, since then.

7. Not yet a reality
The proposal was approved. The final vote on sanctioning the TLD is yet to be and the ICM registry is going to have to jump through a whole bunch of hoops with the adult Internet industry fighting them every step of the way.

9. I can imagine why the adult industry will be fighting this tooth and nail...
.xxx sites will be very easy to filter out.

10. Sort of
Actually, it's more about ICM's proposal. Domains will cost $50.00-$250.00 per and there's supposed to be some board that determines whether or not a person can even own the domain.

There's a lot wrong with the xxx TLD proposal. If the ICM registry really wanted to protect children they would propose a dot kids TLD, but they couldn't gouge the registrants for extraordinary registration fees.
