Last Friday we made a number of configuration changes to our servers which seemed to give us some relief, and at that time we believed we had made significant progress in fixing many of the errors and glitches that we've been experiencing. Unfortunately, it has become apparent that the relief was short-lived -- the number and frequency of errors has slowly increased since then, and now seem to be just as bad as they were last week.

I and the other administrators are extremely frustrated and embarrassed by the incredibly poor level of service you have received over the last month or so. I apologize for all these problems, and I want you to know that I am very grateful that you all have been so understanding. Considering how hard it is to get onto this site sometimes, I can hardly believe that we have any visitors left.

If you are feeling as frustrated as we are by these ongoing problems, here is your opportunity to vent your frustrations by (virtually) spanking a DU Administrator. You can access the spank emoticon with by typing :spank: in the body of your message.

26. It's amazing this site runs as well as it does.

This site has so many advanced features that there is going to be some trouble sometime and know what Microsoft throws at customers including server upgrades and how they screw it up.

It is amazing just how much time this site is available 24/7. I sometimes freak out because I am never sure if it is DU or my PC. My kids will get on the PC and boom, it takes me a couple of days to get the performance back. I-tunes and games.

My posts were "bumped" off into nowhere

Now after that upgrade, that hasn't happened - but some of my replies are triple and quadruple posted (because as I get frustrated when the post takes too long - several minutes?- to upload, I hit the send button too often.) Up until your upgrade - sending a reply never took too long.

Like many are saying above, I appreciate the running of this BBS - I understand that there are complexities involved.

I'm a farmer, not some tech person. I come to DU on my breaks to converse and catch up on the day's events. When a tractor breaks down, or it's rainy, or a horse catches a virus, it's just part of life's events.

We head out to the local tavern or the local coffee shop and swap tales until the weather clears or the work overtakes us....
