Poll question: Global Warming or Climate Change? And, where is YOUR head?
Edited on Thu Jun-24-10 12:19 AM by time_has_come
A multi-dimensional poll that i hope will reveal some important information once the numbers are crunched.

1. Your Poll Doesn't Make Sense
Because you haven't addressed "is it caused by man or not"

choice 3 and 7 could be the same, also 4 and 8

5. COULD be the same, but they're not. All choices are distinct.

6. It's a poll. There's no question, only answers.

7. Then my answer is "spinach"
I'm sure that will answer the questions since there isn't one.

9. Uh, polls have questions. That's one of the elements that would make it a poll.
Your subject line asks two questions. The first question ("Global Warming or Climate Change?")can be answered using the first two stems. The second question ("..Where is your head?") could be answered using the remaining stems. The stems for both are embedded in a single poll and therefore responders will only be able to answer one question, not both, because the polling format doesn't allow for multiple responses.

However, the final stem is a perfect response to both questions.

3. The fact is the Earth is warming
It is Global Warming. Don't let the deniers dictate what we use to describe how humans are influencing the Earth.

The fact is human burning of fossil fuels is increasing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and the result is an increase in the amount of heat retained by the Earth. Various changes are happening because of this warming, such as noted changes to the climate in different places around the planet, but it is because we are warming.

It is Global Warming.

4. Definately climate change if you're here in the UK
It's predicted that if the world gets much warmer the Gulf Stream will reverse and the UK will get a lot colder.

8. What statistical methods will you use the crunch these numbers?
I think you'll need to invent some new techniques...

However, GW and CC are both appropriate terms, but they mean different things. GW refers to an increase in planetary average temperature, and CC refers to variations in climate that result from (among other things) that change in temperature. I prefer 'climate variability' when I refer to shifts in climate resulting from natural causes, and 'anthropogenic climate change' for things that have human origins...
