Eliot Spitzer possible political comeback as candidate
I have always been rather impressed with this man ever since I first saw him speak, and I believe he may make a political come back in the future years. Maybe even as a presidential candidate. He is still young enough to run in a few cycles of presidential primaries.

I don't think he really did anything that bad or wrong, most of these politicians play around and have strong sex drives, the difference is only if they get caught or not. Maybe its part of the deal of having ambition or something. Eliot Spitzer, future Democratic presidential nominee? I think it could happen.

1. I don't know about Prez, but I could easily see him as a Senator or Representative
from the great state of New York! As to his using prostitutes, I agree, he has A LOT of company!

2. He put getting his rocks off ahead of the welfare of everyone who voted for him. He's a POS.

5. Another believer
Maybe, just maybe, all that blew up because Wall Street was feeling too much heat. But you go ahead and applaud for that nice soap opera Goldman Sachs put on for your benefit.

3. I always liked Eliot Spitzer and saw him as the second coming of Teddy Roosevelt.
I thought I would have to write him off forever, not because of the sex,but because of the hypocrisy since he formerly prosecuted prostitutes. But I just thought of a loophole I could contort myself through in order to vote for him with a clear conscience - he dallied as a Governor, not as an Attorney General or prosecutor or someone in a position to prosecute a call girl.

Yeah, I can buy that. Great! Eliot Spitzer for President! At sometime in the future not determined.

4. I like Spitzer, he's very smart. But how could such a smart guy be so dumb?
It's not just that he visited prostitutes, it's that at the same time he was prosecuting prostitution rings. He knew full well the risks he was taking. If he wanted something on the side, he could have had an affair. But no, he did something illegal while governor. I had high hopes for him and would like to see him make a comeback, but still he let us down pretty bad.

BTW, the day he got busted was the day before he was going to testify on something regarding bushco ( I don't remember which of their criminal activities it was). So it's even more disappointing because he was in a position to bring to light much of the corruption issues of the bush admin. and he had to know they would go to any means necessary to shut him down. Which they did.

8. I thought he got a raw deal when taken down.
Always happy to hear his take on the pervasive nature of corrupt interaction. The timing of his fall from political grace is certainly suspect, given the state of things now.

I think if he were a guy the party were keen on, there would have been a better effort to shield him during the scandal.

I rec'd this thread.

11. I hope it doesn't happen.

Spitzer has his place in the political arena but he needs a boss to keep in line. As he is now, I could not support him in an executive role.

His hypocrisy is the least of the issues.

He likes to make end runs around the legislative process. For example, he had a salon piece where he recommended that the President require gun manufacturers make changes to popular guns and gun distributing or face losing govt contracts because it is impossible to get those changes completed by legislative processes (because the people don't want their legislators voting for such laws). I find this example to be a recommendation to abuse authority. Any one who thinks its ok to subvert the will of the people because of personal agendas is not the person I want leading this country.
