Pensacola Beach Today

An unidentified crew member works to clean up oil washed ashore at Pensacola Beach in Pensacola Fla., Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Oil from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill continues to wash a shore along the Florida panhandle.

Disaster struck today! :(

This picture is from last week when Obama visited:

6. Commercials have been playing here most of the day....
Right along with the Myrtle Beach ones. Seriously they should just pull it and stop the propaganda before someone gets sick from the toxins in the water.

All I can say is I am SO sorry this is happening.

2. The tide will come in twice a day. Those guys will get gold
watches someday, if the heat doesn't kill them (or the oil).

4. Great to see they're taking the cleanup seriously!
One dude with a mop, all alone on an oil covered beach.

Yeah, they're really on top of things.

5. The beach at Pensacola is superior to any between it and Corpus.
IMHO.

I suppose I should say "was" not "is."

Tragic.

7. It's a waste of time , I'm afraid.
This is just the first wave of oil. The booms are a joke.
The MASSIVE amount of oil gushing for 60 days insures that these beaches will be entirely oil soaked.
Hey.....gulf coast Repug bastards....How's that voting against your interests working for you?
All you bush/cheney advocates....fuck ya.

13. I was in Pensacola at the time of the last election
There were signs for Obama in the poorer neighborhoods, but McCain signs were everywhere else.

My brother and his wife supported McCain; as of January, there was still a W sticker on their vehicle. A year or so ago, when I said we needed alternative energy, my brother was all for drilling.

Now he looks out of his condo and sees this!

It is too, too sad for me to do anything other than grieve for us all.

9. While I was reading this,
that non stop commercial for safe Florida beaches came on here in NY. This ad even emphasizes NORTHWEST Florida beaches. Hint to BP. People don't believe it.

17. Wow. It's just beyond belief. Mind boggling. And we're probably just at the beginning....
Very, very sad...I'm so heartbroken for the people of the region and the economic impact, but the ecological impact, the suffocating deaths of the wildlife and sea life - to an extent unimaginable I'm sure...and we're probably just at the beginning...it's almost too much to comprehend.

This is nauseating. And it's only the beginning. There's a hell of a lot more to come.

Those greedy bastards.
