A BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT
The Pentagon has begun posting video clips on YouTube to provide what it calls "a boots on the ground perspective" of Iraq. And you can post public comments directly on the site to tell the military exactly what you think about this propaganda and Bush's failed war.
Twenty-five videos have been posted so far, consisting of a few minutes each of apparently raw footage. But don't expect to see the chaos, death, and blood our troops are faced with on a daily basis. Combat seems to consist only of soldiers firing big guns safely from distant rooftops at unseen targets. There's also fluff pieces like "Troops Give Gifts to Iraqi Children" and "Iraqi Boy Scouts Prepare for Jamboree."
Sure enough, people are taking the Pentagon's bait and are posting a slew of ignorant responses in the comment sections of each video. "holy crap awesome!" wrote one user regarding "Battle on Haifa Street." "lol I love his barret m107 sniper (rifle), its nice
" agreed another person. Some users are comparing the footage to video games such as Counter-Strike: "COOL! counter strike 4 real," one wrote.
Fortunately there are some educated responses from people who realize what a sham this propaganda really is. You can add your own at the bottom of each video's webpage. The military is regulating and inspecting all comments so you can be sure your thoughts will be heard. You will have to sign up for a YouTube account if you don’t already have one, but it's quick and easy.
