The progressive movement is over…?

Did you hear? Across the country, progressives are dispirited and exhausted. We’ve done as much as we’re going to do. The progressive movement is over.

Or, at least, that’s what some people seem to think. They think that our victories in 2006 and 2008 were just a passing trend, like Uggs or the Jonas Brothers.

Well, I’m no Jonas Brother – and neither are you. And it’s time to prove it.

2. The people rise to the occasion and to meet their needs

The means of control are so pervasive, it's hard to kick start any mass movement. But the Latinos
proved that it can be done with powerful effect from the May Day demonstrations of a few years ago.

We've got the power, we just have to use it. But the movement for social justice will only die
when we have social justice and we're a long way off.
