Let's make our predictions on McChrystal!
Will he stay or will he go now?
If he goes there will be trouble
And if he stays it will be double
So come on and let me know...

Me? I can see Obama going either way.

1. Keith last night
The points he made about keeping him on were compelling, in a 3D chess playing kind of way. Bush fired all the brass that disagreed with him and turned out to be correct. So Obama should keep this general so he can't be seen as Bush-2?

Keith's point was confusing to me, but, I'm not a 3D chess player.

2. Prior to Kieth's Special Comment last nite, I was in the 'fire him' camp.
It would be nice if Obama pwned McChrystal, dontchathink?

4. Oh, I get it
And keeping McChrystal wouldn't be about doing the opposite of Dubya. Keeping McChrystal would be about owning him. Remember, all McChrystal underlings who were/are horribly disrespectful of their CoC. I can see Obama keeping McChrystal so the General would be forced to smack them into shape.

3. Interesting question but if McChrystal goes, will Obama speed up troop withdrawal? I want our troops
home as rapidly as safety allows and I don't give a dam if a few people, military or politician, have their careers tarnished or ruined.

5. He needs to go. This is not someone who just made one mistake.
He has no respect for the Presidency and his cover up of the Tillman death should have ended his career a long time ago. Bush canned anyone who spoke out once. This is not the case here.

6. He stays, and Obama makes him the fall guy for Afghanistan
It's the only good way out of this for the President.

8. THat is the worst option.
Obama falls with McChrystal. There is no way for Obama to keep the general and the direction of the war without losing badly.

9. I think Obama will keep him on.
After a good ass-whoopin'.

It would be better "punishment" to send him back to finish the job.

15. McChrystal will go - but - He'll be back
McChrystal will 'retire' to "spend more time with his family" fairly soon. By the end of the year, he will be roaming the hall of the Pentagon in a business suit selling weapons to the Army for Textron.
