Totalitarianism towered over the 20th century — a leader-focused, oppressive form of rule in which the individual was crushed. Now it seems to have receded as an ideal. But will it be back?

4. It's bothersome, always a potential, the right political climate, the right messaging. I've always

been amazed how easily people are duped for a diabolical cause veiled in goodness. IMO people are gullible, it's human nature.

And, I also believe it will happen here and in my lifetime (I'm currently 48). I also think it will make The Soviet Union look like a walk in the park on a spring day.

Wars without end.
Justice denied.
Homeless cities.
Riches unimagined for the few.
Impoverishment stalking the vast majority.
Not to speak of disasters heretofore unseen,
while the head of the guilty party races his yacht,
a boat that costs the same, coincidently,
as the acoustic shut off device
that might've prevented just this one environmental disaster.

Perhaps to many that must not seem like totalitarianism. It does to me.
