Gen McChrystal OFFERED his resignation, no word on whether it's been accepted yet...

He did the right thing by offering his resignation. It's up to Gates & Obama as to whether they accept it or not. It's not necessarily an automatic thing. Obama won't decide until after meeting with him personally.

5. I think McChrystal's ass is grass...
the meeting Obama/Gates will have with him is to go through the formalities prior to accepting his resignation, imo.
