Glenn Beck's New Novel - Ran First Chapter through Reading Level
Edited on Tue Jun-22-10 04:18 PM by RamboLiberal
Using the Flesch Reading Levek, Reading Ease available in Word part of the First chapter which is available online. Just as I thought when I speed-read it in B&N last week - 6th grade level. It scored at 6.1 grade level & 71.9 reading ease.

Then I ran Obama's Gulf Oil speech through as a comparision. 9.8 Grade Level, 59.1 reading ease.

Does this say something about Beck acolytes vs. Obama voters???????

BTW, Beck didn't even write this drivel of a novel - he had a couple of ghost writers. Further proof that Beck's fans are rubes. Even some of them are making negative comments about the novel on some Amazon reviews I've read. Of course most think they just read a masterpiece.

3. Quite the opposite, imo...
The public understands the President's speeches, the pundits, however, seem to comprehend only when spoken to at Beck's level. Very telling.

2. well I think
It's going to be hard for most of Beck's followers to get through it if it that "high" a grade level!

4. Can we make a small effort not to sound snotty and contemptuous of other Americans?
For a start?

7. Anyone who buys that piece of drivel he's marketing as a "thriller"
Deserves my contempt! He didn't even write the book. I've met & talked to a number of his "fans" and believe me they sure hold Obama voters as snotty, Un-American, and uninformed.

6. K&R #1. My saved file on BecKKK:
My theory is that BecKKK is taking a remedial course
in Great Thoughts & Quotes. This means he gets THRILLED at a Great Thought or Quote and believes that nobody else has seen it before and, at his level of pathology, even thinks he must have some kind of kinship with that Great Person, and possibly even thinks he thought the Great Thought himself!1

Currently, he has moved on from the founders and has latched onto KIPLING:

The Glenn Beck Novel Trailer: 'Dog... Vomit'

Crazy conspiracy-cruller Glenn Beck has a new novel, The Overton Window, coming out very soon. And now, because I guess this is what we do these days, there is a trailer. For a book. It's just one long, scary quote.

The quote is from "The Gods of the Copybook Headings," a wacky poem by Rudyard Kipling. It speaks of terrible things that happen after "social progress," which Glenn "Walking Knish" Beck really hates. Mostly, though, it is about dog vomit. Yayyyy, dog vomit.

If you are curious, here is a video of Beck writing the novel.

Beck as Dr Frank-N-Furter revealing another SECRET PLAN, his 100 yrs reich
I've never heard more than snippets of his radio yakking, like in the car, and it seems like every time (months apart) he is hinting at ANOTHER secret he can't talk about this minute, but will reveal it in X number of days, always herding his sheep along. It's just one DISCOVERY after another!1

But as for the Frank-N-Furter thing, the ONE time I saw part of the t.v. circus, it was bizarre. It was this clip of him in lederhosen, setting his feet prettily and starting to sing "Eidelweiss" with a flirty smile. And, no, I am *not* doing what is commonly complained about here, of casting our Dem enemies as Gay. He was clearly playing off of all of the Nazi stereotypes in his portrayal. Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVzVkqtVMug&feature=rela...

That said, his always-hinting-at-a-secret-to-be-revealed struck me in tonight's replay of Rocky Horror, where Tim CURRY said, "I have discovered the secret!1 Yes, I know the secret of life!1"

So BecKKK ought to go around revealing his "secret" dressed as Dr Frank-N-Furter--and yet, his zombie followers would STILL flock and parrot him!1

That's how I discovered the secret.

Gawker nails "The Plan" as a marketing pyramind scheme for BecKKK
"1. You will buy Glenn Beck's book.
"2. You will let Glenn Beck stick his dick in your ear.
"3. You will listen to everything y'all hear."

Glenn Beck's Scary Blueprint for World Domination in 2010, Unveiled: "The Plan"

.... Funny, then, that they found out that The Plan was for them to spend more money on Glenn Beck, The Brand. ... ....

Kinda sounds like a cross between Avon and the Left Behind series, right? Except with scarier salespeople who have drier hands.

Yeah, Glenn Beck's got a plan: for the next 100 years, he's gonna keep writing books and making TV shows, and his fans are going to keep buying into both of them. It's kind of genius. His entire multimedia empire is predicated on one, long, 100-year plot arc: that the main character will make viewers'/listeners'/readers' lives better so long as they're with him every step of the way. The man will make references to revolution, to change, to bringing everything back to a fundamental state. The beautiful irony he has to see and embrace—in order for this to have worked as long as it has—is that the only real movement he'll be making is into better cars and larger houses. The kinds that are far away from the rabid zombies who salivate at every vague allusion to blood and violence Mama Bird spits out like discarded pieces of chewing gum for them to suck every last grain of sweet flavor out of. The kind, if provoked, and unleashed, are as much as a threat to anybody as they are to him. A "random act of violence" is never really that random, is it? Especially when the word "radical" gets thrown around over, and over, and over. ....

Then again, evil, as we're all aware, is a scary, subversive force, and comes in all forms, at all times, with little to no discretion. Beware. ....
