3. That's great news! I thought it wouldn't happen until Fall.
Amy, Laura and Thom, every day.

I have an interview lined up with Gisele that DU might like since we have a good handle on the failures of the corporate media. :hi:

8. I loved having The Dish....
Had both FSTV and Link TV. I miss them so much. Now I can't even get Game Show Channel...come on, who doesn't love 1977 reruns of Match Game? Talk about escaping into the past. :hippie:

9. FSTV is also covering the U.S. Social forum live in Detroit this week too...

So, see a great activist event that corporate media won't touch! This coverage might have had something to do with them having DirecTV putting them on tomorrow too.

11. Actually coincidentally that's exactly the time he comes on (in his second hour)
He's on daily between 10:00 AM-12:00 PM PST (his second and third hours). I think Sirius/XM just carries his first hour in the mornings and cuts over to the lame Lynn Samuels then. There is also a "Best of" where they edit the important clips today for a half hour summary later in the day usually at 6:30 PM right after Laura Flanders show at 6:00 PM. However that's being preempted this week at that time with live coverage of the U.S. Social forum then. Normal times resume next week.

Also, FSTV coverage of Thom's show is better than on commercial radio, since he actually talks to FSTV callers during his commercial breaks, which you normally woudldn't get. So you get more bang for your buck during this time too.

FSTV NOW SHOWING USSF LIVE COVERAGE ON DIRECTTV CHANNEL 348
June 23 by Leland

Free Speech TV is now on Channel 348 on DIRECTTV!
by Leland Rucker

We're on DIRECTTV!

That's right. As of today, Free Speech TV will be broadcasting its news programs and documentaries celebrating America's diversity on Channel 348 on DIRECTV. And this week, through Saturday, we'll be showing the United States Social Forum live from Detroit.

That means that our unique programming -- daily news, public affairs series, call-in shows, lectures and investigative documentaries - will now be available to viewers of the most popular satellite TV service.

"Free Speech TV's progressive and culturally-diverse programming promises to enrich as well as inform our customers," said Reagan Feeney, vice president of DIRECTV Programming. "With the launch of Free Speech TV, DIRECTV will continue to uphold its pledge to deliver quality programming to customers."

"Free Speech TV is aggressively expanding its distribution model in an effort to meet growing interest in our programming," said Ron Williams, Chairman of the Board for Free Speech TV. "Our new DIRECTV channel is a major step in this regard. We are delighted with the prospect of introducing our award winning programs to so many new viewers."

DIRECTV customers will need HD Access and HD equipment to view Free Speech TV. Check with DIRECTTV to make sure you're set up for Free Speech TV, and watch Free Speech TV for updates and information.

Hmm... Not sure why they say you need HD access to watch FSTV on DirectTV... I don't believe its broadcast in HD yet anyway. Maybe that's something new that's also coming shortly to Dish Network too. Though I heard DirecTV added a lot of other HD channels today too, so maybe they are sitting on an HD channel just to get added in today. Hmm...

14. The satellites that carry the HD channels have the ability to transmit a whole lot more data
Edited on Thu Jun-24-10 01:03 AM by ConsAreLiars
than the older ones. Non-HD data streams take up less than 1/6th the bandwidth of a HD channel. I suspect the new HD satellites have a lot more excess capacity than the older ones, an FSTV got a better (or only) deal for this decision. I'd prefer, of course, to see both, especially since FSTV speaks for those less likely to have HD gear, but I suspect this was either their only option or the only financially viable one.

(edit spelling)
