TX-Gov Poll: Indies turn away from Rick Perry; now tied with Bill White
Texas Gov. Rick Perry's lead in his re-election bid has vanished, with Democratic nominee Bill White now tying Perry in a new Public Policy Polling survey (June 19-21, 500 RV, MoE +/- 4.4%). This is the first poll to show Perry without a lead, and the reason is that independents now favor White, the former Houston mayor, by a 42%-36% margin.

White 43

"Bill White has the potential to give Democrats their biggest bright spot on what will probably overall be a bad election night in November,” said PPP president Dean Debnam.

2. Problem Perry has is he appeals to the criminally insane, ie. the Repuke base...
...and that turns off the Indies.

5. huff post has the platform of the party. they want to make gay
marriage a felony for both participants and those officiating, as well as banning all strip clubs and porn.

3. Great news
If Perry was ever leading among Indies, it had to have been based only upon his having greater name recognition- 'cause he's essentially a tool of the far right that shouldn't have any substantial appeal outside of his own party. (Then again, in TX there are no doubt plenty of "independents" who classify themselves that way b/c they don't consider the Republican Party to be conservative enough. :scared: That could certainly be a factor.)

Looking forward to viewing this upward trend in White's numbers continue. Looks like the 'pugs really shot themselves in the foot by defeating Hutchison in their primary; she likely would have been a shoo-in...

4. What was Perry's percentage in 2006?
Wasn't it like 29%, 39%. Texas hasn't been with him for a while now.
