It's got nothing to do with the atmosphere.

Now that I look around a little, I notice there are quite a few threads openly debating DU rules. I'm actually kinda glad the non-discussion policy is being relaxed while the new applications of the rules are being discussed in the forums. Pleasantly surprised, in fact. But surprised nonetheless.

Frankly, I don't care that much. I'm not dissing anyone's concerns here, I just don't think the situation here at DU rises to that much to fret about. I'm beginning to wonder how people can expend so much time and energy on "DU rules." I'm open to an explanation, if someone would like to take that on...:shrug:

The clue's in the name. DU's raison d'etre was opposition to George W Bush's presidency; for as long as the Democrats are not underground and there is no clear common enemy DU will remain (even more) fractious and prone to infighting.

And long may it remain so - DU is a means, not at end.
