when regular users were allowed to change their regular usernames after certain elections.

I have to say that I resent this poll, because there are many new users who are regularly attacked because of low post counts. Much of this paranoia is because of the large number of trolls we have had on DU, but most good trolls know haw to get past the "low post count" stigma. Many potentially good DUer's have been turned off to DU because someone attacked them simply because they had a low post count.

That is not the atmosphere that DU wants to engender, as I understand it.
