Video: Glenn Beck compares BP oil spill hearings to Christians being fed to the lions
By now, conservatives defense of British Petroleum has been well documented. Most notably, Rep. Joe Barton's (R-TX) apologized to the company for making them pay for the oil spill damages. Rep. Barton echoed the words of conservative talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh who called the escrow fund set up by BP the result of a "shakedown." However, lost in the outrage over Rep. Barton's comments were Glenn Beck's similar reaction to the BP oil spill hearings.

In the clip below, Glenn Beck gets very angry at the lawmakers questioning BP CEO Tony Hayward. Beck plays a clip from one congressman who tries to get Hayward to answer a question regarding BP's behavior before the spill. The lawmaker asks Hayward multiple times whether the company was reckless, and Hayward runs to a favorite answer of lawyers saying the current evidence does not support that conclusion. During the hearings, Hayward became infamous for dodging nearly every question, even questions he was sent before the hearing that he had the ability to answer. A full, four-minute segment of Hayward question evasion can be seen here. Beck seems the think the questioning is too harsh, and at one point compares Hayward to Christians being fed to the lions.

Beck's reasoning has been circulating in conservative circles for much of the last week. They argue the congressional hearings are too early, and that all efforts should instead be put toward plugging the leak and containing the oil. The assumption is that it is impossible to investigate a crisis while simultaneously working to end it.

Democrats, on the other hand, argue that it is entirely possible for a congressman to questions BP's CEO, while the Coast Guard and engineers work separately on stopping the leak and cleaning up the spill. Congressmen, after all, are probably some of the last people you want consulting engineering experts on the oil leak, or telling cleanup crews how to pick up oil on beaches.

4. Because making BP to set aside money to repay everyone who is affected by BP's screw ups
is equal to going out and finding anyone who doesn't share your beliefs then making them die for your entertainment. Come on it sounds reasonable if you actually don't look at the events leading up to the judgment that happened besides it plays well with the whole poor rich man crowd to have visuals even if they make no sense at all. After all the Dem's are persecuting those poor BP CEO's for their own entertainment, its not like BP did anything criminal.

8. Big Oil has lotsa money.

Paying off a few RW Hatemongers here and there comes out of pocket
change and it's just the cost of doing business to them. Assholes
like Beck and Limbaugh are glad to oblige and they smile all the
way to the bank. It's quite a cozy relationship.
