By all means, let them. It never ceases to amaze me the depths to which they'll sink, the new ways they'll come up with to make them look like such complete and utter fools.

Although it does sadden me that sometimes the only hope the Democratic Party has is for the GOP to make themselves look like even bigger fools.

1. Well, I would laugh
Except I remember an election in which a draft-dodging alcoholic Republican who never held a job managed to convince half the country that he was more moral and upright than a decorated Vietnam veteran former District Attorney.

2. Don't Underestimate The Dark Side (Corporate Media)
Joe Barton may have jumped the gun, but the corporate media and the Republicans have been laying the ground work for this campaign with Fox News and numerous Republicans offering similar sentiments without challenge. Barton's mistake was do it in a forum that allowed Democrats to immediately smack him whereas folks like Don Young say their remarks in a friendly interview without contradiction or on Fox News with Sean Hannity agreeing enthusiastically. Again, Barton's comments would not have raised an eyebrow if they were raised on Fox News, because several Republicans have said similar things.

3. No, they just want to amass all the campaign funding of multinationals.
They're hoping their ridiculous statements in favor of BP will be forgotten.

They will have many times more campaign cash to spend to drown out the Democratic campaigns' videos reminding the public of the Grand Old Plutocrats' devotion to increase the power of multinational corporations over the US government.
