Poll question: Tony Blair's future
Wildly unpopular in the UK, especially Scotland, Wales, London, Yorkshire, hell, just about everywhere.
Wildly popular in the US, in great part because Americans rarely have seen a world leader who can string together words containing more than two sylables into a coherent, gramatically correct sentence - and in ENGLISH, no less!

SO, where will he go?

8. Blair was the "Enabler"; Bush was the "Decider"
There is some difference, but it is hard to pin down.

9. The speaking tours, I think
Much as I'd like it to be The Hague, that isn't going to happen.

Oh, and probably spending a certain amount of time phoning and e-mailing Gordon with little suggestions. And hopefully being ignored!

10. last year, spent sometime in Scotland
determining if scotch gets bruised in transit from distilleries across the atlantic pond.
Each stop confirmed my initial idea that I needed more taste testing.

Each stop, I also was readily identified as a Yank. Pretty soon, the talks moved to politics. and Each time, local scots tried to trade Blair for Bush. I did not want to unfair advantage over the nice folks, so I declined.

13. Consultancy position at News International Corp, plus speaking engagements
The money will pour in while Bush is still president, because some people will think Bush still listens to him. After that, the speeches will tail off, and he'll write a self-serving autobiography (published by Murdoch). Some will still pay a fair amount to listen to him, because he'll have access to Murdoch - and he's a better public speaker than him. He'll set up a foundation that tries to 'make poverty history', but it won't end up doing much, and he'll end up being a poor choice behind Bono, Geldof, Bill Clinton, or Bill Gates, when you want a celebrity to publicise something in this line.
