a homeless person says we're the NEW LEPERS
He says they'd turn us into a leper colony except they'd have to feed us.

3. no, homeless people are the new blacks.
All kinds of segregation laws are being passed against the homeless; some places you can't even give money to them anymore, without being charged with breaking a civil regulation. Ironically, San Francisco is on the forefront for oppressing homeless people.

6. In the 80s, the elites made
altruism conditional and unfashionable.
In the 90s, it became impractical with the end of welfare as we know it.
In the 2000s it became inappropriate and subject to scrutiny with the "war on terror".
And post 2010, it is often scandalous and illegal, read ACORN and James O'Keefe; read also the ordinances against giving food to the hungry.
Yes, in some places you can get in trouble just for giving food to someone.
Whether it is person to person, organization to persons, altruism or service to those unfortunate is more and more discouraged in America.
The conservatives and Third Way liberals want to move us from altruism back to charity.
Altruism is a common trait that can be nurtured into abundance.
Charity only exists in small corners and at rare times.

10. "I feed hungry people and I am called a saint. I ask why people are hungry, and I am called a
Communist." Dom Helder Camara

Insert "homeless" for "hungry", and it is all true.
