Campbell recalls 3 varieties of SpaghettiOs in the U.S.
LOS ANGELES
Thu Jun 17, 2010 9:02pm EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Campbell Soup Co on Thursday voluntarily recalled 35,000 cases of its "SpaghettiOs" in the United States, saying some of the canned products might have been under-processed.

U.S. | Health

The recall, covering three varieties of the canned spaghetti popular with children, was launched after a routine warehouse inspection and subsequent investigation discovered the potentially under-processed product originating from its Paris, Texas plant.

Spokesman Anthony Sanzio said the company did not believe the product under recall had reached consumers, but acknowledged it was possible it had.

Should a consumer eat under-processed SpaghettiOs, they might experience gastrointestinal issues, such as nausea or vomiting, Sanzio said.

4. Wonder what "under-processed" means?
Maybe they left out some of the sodium and preservatives, and they're worried that people might discover that SpaghettiO's taste better without all that shit, and they'll have to make them that way all the time.

Of course the only way I can choke those things down is with a generous portion of this stuff...

5. Underprocessed food? The horror!
Why, everybody knows, food must be grown from genetically-enhanced plants, have at least 15 non-natural substances and be packaged in a can, a Tetrapack or a handy serving tray.

Do they expect us to actually cook from scratch?

Get real.

7. When we can food at home, the heating step is called "processing"
Edited on Thu Jun-17-10 08:42 PM by Kolesar
The food is pasteurized enough to kill microbes. For foods like meat, it must be pasteurized at quite high temperatures, so we use a pressure canner where water does not boil until well beyond 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

10. Pretty goddamn sad when we've gotten to the point of recalling food for underprocessing.
Edited on Thu Jun-17-10 08:39 PM by Rabrrrrrr
I'd say that unpalatable shit is processed enough.

Maybe they'll go out of business, and America can go back to cooking actual food.

(and yes, I know what they really mean by 'underprocessing')
