AH that explains it...
I thought Barton was tied to the oil industry, but until he ran for Congress he was like INSIDE the industry... and did I hear right? 2\3 of the Republicans in the House?

2. No, you've got it reversed.
The Bush Regime wasn't the oil industry, the oil industry was the Bush Regime - like it was a wholly-owned subsidiary.

3. I always saw the Bush Administration as the mouthpiece of the energy industry in general...
and big oil particularly.

4. Of course, but I was scratching head, why
did Barton really insert foot in mouth? Now we all know.

5. I think he was to be the point man on an attack that went horribly wrong...
Bachmann and others said something similar. I just don't think he was bright enough to think through what he said, and the GOP, realizing that they can singlehandedly make this in to a winning election theme, have back pedaled.

7. I understand this, and it was an
attack that went horribly wrong, but still... he took lead. She just follows orders and I am almost sure, if we looked under the hood... we can go to Luntz's office and find his paws all over this.

9. They are handing us clubs that we should use to beat them bloody. If we don't, we may as well
get out of their way and admit that we can't run with the big dogs.

10. Sort of side-ways off topic but
...did you guys catch Barton trying to use teh maths to explain to Hayward that his fancy well only contained a finite amount of oil, so it was bound to "peter out" real soon? I was doing something so I missed the look on Hayward's face but the long pause before he replied to Barton was hilarious!
