DENVER (AP) — Steve King is heading to Colorado after all.

The western Iowa Republican congressman whose invitations to speak at a tea party rally and GOP fundraiser in Colorado were revoked after his comments about the president and race is coming to Colorado anyway — to speak at a Loveland immigration rally.

King was originally headlining a fundraiser Saturday for Republican Cory Gardner, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Betsy Markey. King was also to be a speaker at a “Remember in November” rally by a tea party group.

But those invitations were rescinded after King, who is known for making incendiary remarks, implied in a recent radio interview that President Barack Obama favors blacks over whites.

King told G. Gordon Liddy in a syndicated radio show that Obama “has a default mechanism” that favors black Americans over white ones. King was referring to last year's incident in which Obama criticized a white police officer's arrest of a black professor from Harvard University.

Gardner canceled the $100-a-person fundraiser without comment after a reporter asked about King's comments. Then, the Tea Party of Northern Colorado took King off the speakers' list at a public rally Saturday evening.
